Menu from old Czech cuisine in the form of boiled potatoes and buckwheat groats baked in the oven with smoked meat and onions.
Ingredients:
1 kg
of boiled potatoes
250 g
pohanky – hail (not broken)
200-300 g
smoked meat
4-5 pcs
garlic cloves
1 tsp
marjoram
1 pc
large onion
lard to grease the baking dish
pepper
oil
salt
Procedure:
Prepare the buckwheat according to the instructions, or use this procedure for basic buckwheat preparation (you don’t need to season the buckwheat extra when you prepare it, just a little salt).
Scrape, cut and boil the potatoes.
Fry the onion and smoked meat in a little oil or lard and finally add the crushed garlic and marjoram.
Transfer the boiled potatoes to a larger pot or bowl and mash lightly.
Add the buckwheat, the mixture from the pan and season with salt or a little pepper.
Mix everything well and transfer to a greased baking dish.
Bake at approx. 200°C (180°F) for 15 – 20 minutes until the surface is firm and beautifully golden.
Recommendation:
Sour cabbage is recommended as a side dish.
