Traditional apple strudel from the farm “Pirchhof”

This delicious apple strudel is made from fresh apples by farmer Andrea Müller, who learned it from her grandmother and it has been passed down for generations. Recipe from the Pirchhof farm in South Tyrol.

Ingredients:

Spices (for 2 strudels): For linzer dough: 500 g coarse flour 200 g sugar 180 g of margarine 4 pcs free range egg 1 sachet vanilla sugar 1 packet of baking powder For filling: 10-12 pieces apple rum (optional) vanilla sugar raisins sugar Other: milk for smearing

Procedure:

Mix flour, baking powder, eggs, margarine, sugar and vanilla sugar to form a smooth batter. Let it rest for about half an hour.

Prepare the filling – peel the apples, cut them into small pieces and mix them with sugar, vanilla sugar and raisins. If you like, you can add rum.

Divide the dough in half, roll it out and fill it. Finally, brush the dough with cold milk.

Bake at 180 °C for about 45 minutes. Sprinkle the strudel with icing sugar while still warm and serve, for example, with a vanilla topping.
