Spinach according to my mother-in-law
Mrs. Marus recipe for preparing frozen spinach.
Ingredients:
Procedure:
1. Put the frozen spinach in a saucepan with a little water, bring to the boil and let it cook until thawed
2. In the meantime, make a roux with the flour and oil
3. Once the spinach has thawed, I add the roux and milk as needed to give it the right consistency
4. Season with salt, add the crushed garlic and simmer for a while.
Recommendation:
Serve with ox eye and gnocchi, stewed meat, or fried salami. See recipe for preparation of roux: Mashed potatoes.
Note:
P.S. Mrs. Marus – My kids never wanted to eat spinach in the school cafeteria but enjoyed it at home. My daughter once explained it to me. She said – mom it tastes like grass at school and at home it is so bland. Today my son’s girlfriend lives here and I have to cook spinach at least every 14 days.
