Smoked crab cream cheese sushi
We haven’t done this here at Recipe Box for a while, but… How about a little jump into Asian cuisine? And what could be more Asian than sushi made with delicious seafood and rice. That’s exactly what we’re going to do. We had help with sushi from the shop Apelsin and everything else from a very nice food delivery guy.
Sushi is a Japanese dish in many ways. I’m not just talking about origin or cultural connection, but also the ability to digest the dish properly. Namely, their stomach bacteria are capable of digesting algae, and that’s what these nori leaves are – algae. Researchers discovered that only people living in the area have the ability to digest these algae properly. Given that algae were once used as a means of payment, it’s no wonder that the Japanese get along better with them than Westerners.
Another interesting thing about sushi is that the wasabi often served with it isn’t really wasabi at all, but just horseradish that has been diced green. True wasabi loses most of its flavour about 15 minutes after the pasta is mixed. What’s more, this capricious plant is very tricky to grow.
It doesn’t take much to whip up sushi, but it won’t last without a proper sushi mat. When spreading the rice, don’t press it too much – spread it lightly over the nori leaf so that the rice grains are distinct from each other. When you’ve finished your roll, use a sharp knife to cut it – not a circular knife, but a sharp knife, otherwise you’ll mess it up.
Be sure to try different recipes and why not think of something original. If you’ve got the right kitchen utensils to hand, you shouldn’t have any trouble. You’ll find everything you need for your kitchen at Apelsin. Now get cooking!
A second option is to try the rice outside option, which is also very easy to prepare.
While you’re at it, why not try the rice outside?
