Serbian Sarma

One of the variants of the popular rice and meat stuffed cabbage leaves. Similar to Ukrainian golubtsy or Moravian shulek, Turkish dolma or Romanian sarmale.

Ingredients:

500 g of ground pork 150 g of royal purée 100 g cooked rice 50 g of bacon 2 dl of meat broth 1 dl white wine 2 pcs garlic cloves 2 pcs onions thyme pepper oil salt

Procedure:

  • Scald the green leaves with boiling water to soften, drain
  • Fry the onion rings in the rendered bacon
  • In a bowl mix minced meat, with onion, bacon, rice, season with salt, pepper, thyme, garlic
  • Cover the leaves with the meat mixture, wrap

  • Place the stuffed leaves in a pot, pour in the meat broth, white wine, add tomato paste, season with thyme, salt, pepper, simmer for 20 minutes
  • Transfer the rolls to a baking dish greased with oil, pour in the sauce, you can add the leftover cabbage and bake for another 15 minutes.

    Serve with rice or bread.
