Recipe to make moisturizing oil for dreadlocks no itch
Last Updated on
Dreadlocks are a hairstyle that many people with Afro-textured hair choose to wear. They can be created by braiding the hair or using a technique called “twist and rip.” Dreadlocks can take a while to form, but once they do, they can last for months or even years.
One of the best things about dreadlocks is that they are low-maintenance. You don’t have to worry about styling them every day – just let them be. That said, you do need to make sure that your dreadlocks are well-moisturized, as Afro-textured hair can be prone to dryness.
There are many commercial products available that can help keep your dreadlocks healthy and moisturized. But if you’re looking for a more natural option, you can easily make your own moisturizing oil at home.
Here’s what you’ll need:
-1/4 cup of olive oil
-1/4 cup of coconut oil
-1/4 cup of castor oil
-10 drops of essential oil (eucalyptus, lavender or rosemary work well)
Instructions:
1. Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl or jar and mix well.
2. Apply the oil to your dreadlocks, using as much or as little as you need. Focus on the tips of the dreadlocks, as this is where they are most likely to be dry.
3. Wrap your head in a towel and let the oil sit for 30 minutes to an hour.
4. Rinse out the oil with shampoo and water.
This oil can be used once or twice a week, as needed. It’s best to apply it before bed so that you can let it sit overnight.
If you find that your dreadlocks are getting too oily, you can reduce the amount of oil you use or wash your hair more frequently. As with anything, trial and error will help you find what works best for you
