Recipe for vegan Thousand Island Salad Turkey
Last Updated on
Just because you’re vegan doesn’t mean you have to give up thousands of island salad dressings. Just use vegan mayonnaise to make homemade vegan thousand island dressing.
In this simplest form, Thousand Island salad dressing is little more than prepared ketchup mixed with any ratio of mayonnaise. This one below uses a sweet tangy flavor to add a bit of sweetness and texture.
In a pinch, mix in some Dijon mustard or a little vinegar for a refined flavor, chopped green olives add a nice bite.
What you’ll need
1 cup vegan mayo (I like Vegenaise the best) 1/3 cup ketchup 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional) chry salt 3 tbsp sweet sweet relish (optional, but nice)
How to make it
In a small bowl, combine vegan mayonnaise, ketchup, onion powder, salt and sweet seasoning. Whisk all the ingredients together until your dressing is smooth and creamy and all the ingredients are well combined. Be sure to separate the ketchup or corn on the cob “streaks” from the mixture. Taste and adjust the seasonings.
Not sure what to do with your thousand island sauces? It can be used in place of regular mayo in almost any sandwich and makes a great topping for any veggie burger.
