Five-Spice powder and sesame oil combine to make these spareribs a delicious and spicy Chinese meal.

What you need

3 pounds of spareribs (small spareribs sold on the shelves) 3 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dried sherry 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1 teaspoon five-spice powder 1 teaspoon freshly ground black or white pepper, as desired 1 clove garlic, chopped 1/4 cup honey dissolved in 1/2 cup boiling water

How to make

Place the asparagus spears in a shallow container. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, Chinese rice wine, sesame oil, five-spice powder, pepper and minced garlic. Add the mixture to the spare ribs and marinate, covered, in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Turn out occasionally to make sure the spare ribs are fully coated. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Place the rack on the cookie sheet and place the pork on the rack. Bake the pork for 50-60 minutes or until the ribs begin to set immediately and the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit. During roasting, rub the honey and water mixture into the curlers several times. Remove from coolness before serving.
