Recipe for red pork pozole with whole chicken not shredded chicken

This authentic Mexican dish is tasty, hearty and filling. Made with a whole chicken, this red pork pozole is sure to be a hit with your family and friends. For best results, use a slow cooker to cook the pork and chicken.
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
2 lbs. pork shoulder, trimmed and cut into pieces
1 large onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 cups chicken broth
2 (15 oz.) cans hominy, drained and rinsed
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, pork, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano and salt.
2. Pour the mixture into a slow cooker and add the chicken broth.
3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork and chicken are cooked through.
4. Stir in the hominy and cilantro and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
