Mystic Pizza is a 1988 film about three teenage girls who work at a pizza parlor in their small town of Mystic, Connecticut. The main character, Daisy Arujo, works with her friends Jojo and Kat at the Mystic Pizza.
One of the specialties at the pizzeria is their fried artichoke hearts. If you’re looking to recreate this delicious dish at home, here’s what you’ll need:
1 can of artichoke hearts, drained
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
1/2 cup of milk
1/4 cup of olive oil
To make the Mystic Pizza fried artichoke hearts, start by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. While the oil is heating up, combine the flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a shallow dish.
Once the oil is hot, working in batches, dredge the artichoke hearts in the flour mixture until they’re coated and then add them to the skillet. Fry the artichokes for 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
Remove the fried artichokes from the skillet with a slotted spoon and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce
