Are you in the mood for some delicious, homemade pretzels? This recipe is easy to follow and only requires a few simple ingredients that you likely already have in your kitchen. In just a short amount of time, you can be enjoying fresh, warm pretzels!
What you’ll need:
1 package of active dry yeast
1 cup of warm water
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of salt
3-4 cups of flour
Some baking soda
A large pot of boiling water
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix together the yeast, warm water, and sugar. Let it sit for a few minutes until the yeast has dissolved.
Add the vegetable oil and salt to the mixture and stir.
Slowly add the flour to the mixture, 1 cup at a time. Mix until the dough is no longer sticky.
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Then, place the dough in a greased bowl and cover. Let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
After the dough has risen, divide it into 12-16 pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope. Make a U-shape with the rope and then twist the ends together to form a pretzel shape.
Place the pretzels on a greased baking sheet and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bring the large pot of water to a boil and add the baking soda. Boil the pretzels for 30 seconds.
Remove the pretzels from the water and place them back on the baking sheet. Brush them with some beaten eggs if desired.
Bake in the oven for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
Enjoy your delicious pretzels! You can serve them plain or with your favorite dipping sauce. They also make great snacks for parties or game days
