Regional sauce from some areas of South Bohemia.

Ingredients:

300 g of prunes 2 dl of natural red wine ./td> 1 handful of walnut kernels 1 handful of raisins 1 teaspoon of mace 1 tablespoon of sugar water pinch of salt

Procedure:

1. Boil the prunes in a little water and then rub them through a sieve
2. Add sugar, salt and enough wine to make a thicker sauce, which is thickened with maize boiled in a little water

Recommendation:

It is best served with potato cakes, yeast dumplings, but also with smoked meat or fish.

Note:

Maizena – Corn meal or starch. It is mainly used to make traditional puddings and to thicken soups and sauces.
