Onion Horseradish with Meat

This title does not accurately describe what it is that we have to prepare. It is a thin sauce that we serve with pork ovaries, boiled beef, boiled smoked meat, tongue, etc.

Ingredients:

500 g of potatoes 1 pk of larger onion green parsley For the marinade: 1/8 l water 3 tbsp vinegar 1 tbsp oil pinch of sugar salt

Procedure:

1. Boil the peeled potatoes until tender, mash them while still hot and knead them into a smooth mash
2. In water with vinegar, mix salt, sugar, add oil and pour and mix everything with mashed potatoes
3. Add finely chopped onion, green parsley and put this thin sauce to cool for a few hours.

Note:

We really don’t know why the term horseradish appears in the title of this recipe, perhaps because the sauce resembles grated horseradish and is also served as horseradish with smoked meat or stew. We found the recipe in a 1965 cookbook called Cooking Jokingly, so perhaps it wasn’t just a joke by the authors. Probably best to try this recipe!
