Mexican Manhattan recipe for beef tacos
Hey, it’s Tina from Mexico again! I hope you all enjoyed my last blog post about Authentic Mexican Food. Today, I’m going to be sharing with you my recipe for Mexican Manhattan tacos. These are tacos with a beef filling that is flavored with a Manhattan-style sauce. I love this recipe because it is so easy to make and the flavor is out of this world!
The first thing you need to do is make the beef filling. For this, you will need:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon A.1. Steak Sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned. Drain the fat and remove from the heat. Add the onion, green pepper, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, A.1. Steak Sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until everything is evenly mixed and then let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
While the beef filling is cooking, you can start on the taco shell. For this, you will need:
8 flour tortillas
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup Manhattan-style sauce (see recipe below)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.Stack the tortillas on top of each other and cut them into 8 wedges. Spread the wedges out on a baking sheet and brush them with vegetable oil. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until they are lightly browned and crisp. Remove from the oven and let cool.
To assemble the tacos, start by spreading 1 tablespoon of Manhattan-style sauce on each tortilla wedge. Then add a heaping spoonful of beef filling and fold the taco in half. Serve immediately.
