Meatballs with potatoes and sauce (Köttbullar med potatismos)

With our European cookbook, this time we are going to the cold north – to Sweden. You probably know Köttbullar med potatismos, meatballs with sauce, thanks to the Ikea department store. But you can also make them at home.

Ingredients:

Rule for 4 servings: 300 g of ground pork 300 g ground beef 75 g breadcrumbs 100 ml milk 1 handful chopped fresh herbs (parsley, dill, chives, chives, chives) 1 tbsp olive oil 1 teaspoon of nutmeg 1 tsp allspice 1 pk large onion 1 pk egg freshly ground pepper sea salt Smoke: 400 ml beef stock 100 ml sweet cream 2 tbsp

td>smooth flour lemon juice (to taste) sea salt for seasoning

Procedure:

  • chop the onion finely, sauté until soft, so that it starts to turn a light brown color. Combine the finished onions, along with most of the fresh herbs and all the other ingredients for the meatballs in a bowl
  • Let the meat mixture rest in the refrigerator. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and ten more parts each. With wet hands, shape into equal balls
  • Place the meatballs in a baking dish, drizzle with oil, shake them a little to spread the oil over the dish and the meatballs and place in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes – you need to check the meatballs
  • Now prepare the traditional sauce that is served with the meatballs
  • In a small saucepan put the stock, cream, flour, (lemon juice), salt, stir and heat
  • Meanwhile the meatballs have finished baking, pour off the excess fat, remove the meatballs from the pan and use a little of the stock to remove the browned juices which you add to the sauce itself. Bring the sauce to the boil, remove and reduce slowly, once thickened it can be served.
  • Recommendation:

The hot dish can be garnished with cranberry jam.
