Lokše

Old simple recipe of our grandmothers, which has not changed over time. In this day and age of trendy Mexican corn tortillas and tacos, I would definitely prefer to have a slice, they are tastier, softer, affordable, easy and can also be filled with different fillings and covered with different sauces.

Ingredients:

100 g of boiled potatoes coarse flour lard salt

Procedure:

1. Boil the potatoes in their skins until soft, drain off the water, let cool
2. Peel and mash the cooled potatoes, add flour, salt, mix thoroughly and make potato dough
3. Cut off pieces of the dough and roll them out on a floured rolling pin into pancakes about 5-7 mm thick, 15-20 cm in diameter
4. Bake the pancakes on the stove, dry on both sides, pierce the dough with a fork and turn it over to prevent burning
5.

Recommendation:

The pancakes can also be baked on a frying pan which is lightly greased with lard. The pancakes are served warm with cabbage. In eastern Slovakia they are popular with roast duck or goose and cabbage, where they are brushed with goose or duck fat. They are also filled with minced meat and cabbage. In Moravia, sweet lokše are popular, which are smeared with povidle and sprinkled with poppy seeds.
