The ingredients you will need are: 1 cup of long-grain rice, 2 cups of water, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 cup of currants or raisins, and 1/4 cup of chopped nuts.
To make the cake, first rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This step is important in order to remove any excess starch from the rice, which can make the cake tough.
Next, combine the rice, water, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a medium saucepan and stir well. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
