We all love meals that are easy, tasty and cheap. And if it’s regional, locally sourced and healthy, it’s exactly what we love to cook. Hunc! You haven’t heard of hunc? The recipe for baked potatoes with groats comes from the Pojizeří region and tastes best when combined with sauerkraut, coleslaw, pickled beetroot or pickled cucumbers.
Ingredients:
Rule for 4 servings:
1 kg
of new potatoes
200 g
of grits
100 g
smoked ham or bacon
4 tbsp
lard
3 pcs
garlic cloves
1 pc
large onion
pickled cucumbers or pickled beets
freshly ground pepper
fresh marjoram
salt
Procedure:
Soak the bunches in cold water for a few hours according to the directions, then rinse thoroughly.
Cook them until tender in salted water with a tablespoon of lard.
Cook the potatoes in their skins and cut them into slices.
Fry the bacon with chopped onion in a pan.
Mix the grits, potatoes, bacon with onion and add the crushed garlic, fresh marjoram, salt and pepper to taste.
Bake the mixture until golden brown at 180 °C in a baking dish greased with lard, about 25 minutes.
Serve with pickled beets or cucumbers.
Recommendation:
We used Naděžda Feithová ALFA mill and packing house Pouzdřany brand barley groats for this recipe. They are tasty and have the Klasa label.
