Grilled Halloumi Cheese

Marinade-rubbed halloumi cheese grilled on a grill grate, served best with toasted pita bread.

Ingredients:

1 package of halloumi cheese 1 pack of pita bread tomatoes mint leaves for garnish For spreading: 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons lemon juice a little oregano pepper

Procedure:

1. Rub the sliced cheese with a marinade made from olive oil, lemon juice, oregano and pepper
2. Grill the cheese on a well heated grill grate for 3-
4 minutes on each side until nicely golden
3. Garnish the grilled cheese with tomatoes, garnish with mint sprigs and serve immediately preferably with toasted pita bread.

Recommendation:

The cheese can also be pan fried in olive oil. If you like, you can also add one crushed garlic clove to the marinade.

Note:

Halloumi – A grilled salty sheep’s cheese baked in Cyprus. It melts at higher temperatures, so it can easily withstand grilling.
