From time to time we treat ourselves to a sweet lunch in addition to a good dessert. This one is very popular with us. In season I use fresh fruit in the balls, but even stock homemade jam tastes great in them.
1.
Clean and boil the pears. Let cool.
2.
Gear the cooked potatoes finely, add the semi-coarse flour, egg yolk and a pinch of salt. Make a uniform dough. I add flour progressively depending on the quality of the potatoes. The dough should not be too crumbly or too stiff.
3.
Roll out the dough to about 5mm and cut into squares.
4.
Place a teaspoon of jam or fresh fruit on each square and seal well.
5.
Put the water on to boil in a large saucepan and season with a little salt. When the water is boiling, carefully place the balls in it. Cook until they float to the surface.
6.
Pour melted butter over the hot balls, sprinkle with ground poppy seeds and icing sugar and serve. Enjoy.
