Last Updated on
Ingredients
4 servings 1 kg of onions 2 tablespoons of slo 4 sprigs of thyme 3 cloves of garlic 250 ml white wine 2 tbsp plain flour 1 l of broth 1 pk smaller baguette 150 g of Gruyère cheese
Recipe preparation
1 Peel the onion and slice it into thin half-rings. Heat the butter in a frying pan, add the onions and thyme, fry briefly and reduce the heat. Sauté the onions over a low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes. The onions will turn golden and soften.
TIP. Cook over a low heat for about 5 minutes to evaporate the alcohol and reduce the liquid. Sprinkle the contents of the pot with flour, stir and braise for a minute. Now gradually pour in the hot stock, bring to the boil and cook for about 10 minutes.
TIP: Old bread makes great toast, fries, ice cream and coffee
3 Cut the baguette into slices and grill it on both sides until golden brown.
