Egg yolk slices aka Golden cake

250 g powdered sugar 150 g semi-coarse flour 300 g walnuts 250 g margarine 5 pcs egg white 1 packet baking powder

This recipe reminds me of Sunday comfort at my grandmother’s. I always think of her when I think of it.

In a mixing bowl, first cream together the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy with no lumps. It will work better if we use room temperature butter or fat. P

Then add the flour mixed with baking powder and ground nuts, alternately by tablespoonfuls. Stir them in until all the ingredients are well mixed

If the dough is stiff and hard to work with, you can add two or three tablespoons of cold water.Place baking paper on a 32 x 40 baking sheet and fold the dough over it.

Spread evenly and place in a preheated oven at 180 degrees. Bake for about half an hour.While the pastry is baking, in a bowl, mix the sugar and egg yolks with a spoon to make a thick foam and brush the hot cake with the glaze as soon as it comes out of the oven. This will dry quickly and leave the cake to cool properly.
