Easter Greek Bread

Greek version of our mazanka.

Ingredients:

For the dough: 500 g smooth flour 125 g butter 75 g sugar 50 g raisins 7 g dried yeast 1 pk egg 1 pk white 1 pc package of vanilla sugar 250 ml milk 1 tbsp grated lemon zest 1 tsp crushed anise 1 teaspoon salt To finish: 2 tablespoons of sesame for sprinkling 2 tablespoons of milk 1 piece of egg yolk 3 pcs hard boiled eggs

Procedure:

1. 1. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, then work it lightly again, divide it into 5 parts, roll out a strand of each about 30 cm long, first braid 3 strands, then twist 2 strands, which we put on the braided braid and let it rise for about 20 minutes
3. After rising, brush with egg yolk whisked with milk, sprinkle the surface with sesame seeds, squeeze boiled eggs into the centre of the braid, which can be dyed in egg colour
4. Bake in a preheated oven at 150 °C until golden brown (about 45 minutes), let cool after baking.
