Why cook sushi when we have salmon tartare! Indeed. Definitely much easier to prepare compared to sushi, and it looks particularly delicious. It’s the kind of feast that’s usually served in the fanciest restaurants, although in fact any of us can easily make a delicious salmon tartare. The preparation is extremely simple. The secret ingredient was a drop of vodka. The strong alcohol brings out the flavour of the fish and helps to soften the fillets even more. Be sure not to overdo the vodka, otherwise it can ruin the natural flavour of the salmon.Preparation instructions
Salmon tartare
Citrusy fruit and salmon tartare have always gone well together. That’s because the tart flavour of citrus goes very well with fish dishes. Our solution was to slice grapefruit and use the slices as serving dishes. Practical and handy, plus the acidity and citrusy flavour is just enough. There was no need for lemon. The grapefruit did all the work for us. Besides, this way of serving looks so much cooler.
We almost had the salmon tartare ready, but the question was how to decorate it. As the whole dish looked so colourful and appetising, we decorated it minimalistically. We added a few long green onion stems and a strawberry slice. The colours just went so well together that the strawberry couldn’t be left out.
We would definitely recommend this dish to guests or if you’re celebrating a special occasion. The dish is very quick to prepare and requires no baking or frying. Even if a friend is late for a visit, you will have the same delicious experience as the others who came on time.
Enjoy!
