Crockpot Cornish Game biscuits recipe
Last Updated on
Use crown scent to prepare Cornish game hens with no stuffing (also known as Rock Cornish game hens, as they are a hybrid of Cornish and White Rock's hens). They look like miniature chickens and have the same flavor, but they are petite, weighing only 1 to 2 pounds (standardized grocery store varieties are about 1 1/4 pounds). The bone-to-meat ratio is high, which means you should plan to serve 1 whole game hen per person.
Use the stuffing mix for expediency, or make your own (I cut my basic bread recipe in half and gave the proportions below). Finish off this cup with a lightly orange-honey glaze for a company-worthy dish.
What you need
. 4 Cornish game hens Pattern salt and pepper 8 ounces stuffing mix (or make your own, see below) 1 cup chicken stock 1 large orange (cut up) 1/4 cup fresh orange juice 2 tablespoons sweet 1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1/4 teaspoon grated orange zest 1/2 cup chopped celery 1/2 chopped onion 2 tbsp butter 1/3 cup + 2 tablespoons chicken broth 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1/2 teaspoon salt Good pinch of black pepper 1/2 large (3/4 pound) white bread
How to make it
Make game hens
Rinse 4 Cornish game hens . Sprinkle the hollow inside and outside with salt and pepper. Prepare according to package directions or prepare homemade stuffing. Continue below from step 3.
Morning Meal Preparation
Sauté 1/2 cup cooked celery and 1/2 cup chopped onion in 2 tablespoons butter until softened. Remove from heat. Stir in 1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons chicken broth, 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a generous pinch of black pepper. Let cool to room temperature. Cut bread into 1-inch cubes. Add the cooled chicken broth mixture and allow to gently combine. Continue with the recipe.
Game of ten filling
Spoon packed stuffing or homemade stuffing into chickens and cavities . The neck placement ends with the crockpot so the legs stick.
For dipping
In a small bowl, mop 1 cup chicken fillet, 1 large orange, 1/4 cup fresh orange juice, 2 tablespoons honey , 1 tsp. Tsp vegetable oil , 1 tsp fresh lemon juice and 1/4 tsp orange spirit . With some of the sauce, wash the egg chickens and place them on the end of their necks so that the legs stick. Pour the leftover sauce through the game hens into the pot.
Cook the game tens
Cover and cook on low for 5 to 7 hours. Sprinkle the chickens once or twice during baking. Remove the slices from the cauliflower and remove the clumps. Spoon the breading over the chickens while serving.
