Clam pasta sauce recipe
This clam pasta sauce recipe is inspired by the classic Italian sauce, alla puttanesca. Puttanesca means “in the style of a whore.” The dish is traditionally made with garlic, olives, tomatoes, and chili peppers. This recipe includes all of those classic ingredients, plus a few others to give the sauce a unique flavor.
The sauce is simple to make and can be used on any type of pasta. It’s also a great way to use up any clams that you may have leftover from another meal. Here are the ingredients that you’ll need:
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/2 cup of white wine
1/2 cup of chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup of chopped olives
1/4 cup of chopped parsley
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
2 pounds of clams, cleaned
To make the sauce, start by heating the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for about 1 minute, or until the garlic is fragrant. Add the white wine and bring to a boil. Add the tomatoes, olives, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Add the clams to the pot and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they have opened. Discard any clams that do not open. Serve the sauce over your favorite type of pasta
