The delicious Christmas dessert, apple pie made from apples and dried fruits, is especially popular in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, an area north of San Marino where its first recipe is said to have originated. However, Italians consider it their traditional Christmas dessert.
Ingredients:
500 g
apple
100 g
smooth wheat flour
100 g
dried figs
100 g
raisins
50 g
corn polenta
50 g
crystal sugar
50 g
breadcrumbs
50 g
of honey
250 ml
of milk
25 ml
olive oil
1 tsp
cinnamon
2 pieces
of egg
peel of 1 lemon
peel of 1 orange
Procedure:
First, mix together all the dry ingredients, i.e., the flour along with the polenta, cinnamon, sugar and breadcrumbs
Cut the peeled apples into cubes, cut the figs into smaller pieces, grate the citrus zest
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the liquid ingredients, add the citrus zest, mix everything thoroughly, then add the apple pieces, raisins, also the figs, mix everything again
Pour the prepared dough into a greased and floured baking tin, bake in a preheated oven at 160 °C for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown.
