Cheese and chive bread recipe
This cheese and chive bread recipe is incredibly easy to follow and produces a delicious, fluffy loaf of bread that’s perfect for toasting and dipping. The best part is that it only requires a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1 pound (4 cups) all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
1 cup buttermilk
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese and chives.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in buttermilk. Stir just until the ingredients are moistened.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
This bread is perfect for serving at brunch alongside some eggs and bacon, or as an appetizer at a party with some dipping sauce. It also makes great toast! If you want to make ahead, this bread freezes well. Just slice and wrap tightly in freezer-safe wrap and then thaw overnight at room temperature or pop into the toaster straight from the freezer for a quick snack
