Braised red cabbage with fig chutney

2 butter 2 tbsp olive oil 1 pk onion 2 tbsp brown sugar 1 pk red cabbage 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp salt 2 pk orange (juice) 2 tbsp fig chutney 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Great side dish with meat but tastes fantastic on its own too.
1.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter with the olive oil

Add finely chopped onion and sauté until soft.

Add brown sugar and stir until caramelized.
4.
Slice the red cabbage and add it to the caramel base.
5.
Add cumin (ground) and salt to let the cabbage release its juices.
6.
Sweeten with orange juice or water as needed.
7.
Simmer covered for 35 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
8.
Finish with fig chutney and balsamic vinegar.
9.
Stir to combine flavors and bring to a boil.
10.
Serve.
