300 g lard 200 g plain flour

250 g plain flour 1 pk egg 6 tbsp cold water 1 tbsp vinegar

These delicious cookies are a memory of my childhood, which I often spent at my grandmother’s house in the village. A garden full of fruits and Vegetable Recipes, a dog and cat running around the yard, picking grass and nettles for the ducks and chickens…gathering meadow flowers to the buzzing of Grandma’s bees, and Grandma’s unforgettable meals…everything tasted different there than at home… whether it was breakfast bread in an egg or a slice of bread with homemade jam or honey, baked buns, potato pancakes or these delicious orchard cakes… all these memories come back to me when their taste melts on my tongue…

Prepare dough #1 by mixing lard and plain flour.

Mix flour with egg, water and vinegar for dough #2.

Place the greased dough No.2 on a floured board, place the greased dough No.1 on top and roll them out together. Fold the dough and repeat 3 times.

Then cut the dough into rectangles, place a dollop of poppy seed, nut filling or jam (to taste) on one half, fold in half, pinch the ends to prevent the filling from oozing out.

Place on a dry baking sheet and bake until pink.
6.
While still hot, roll in icing sugar.
