Apples stuffed with meat, baked in red cabbage

A warm appetizer of hollowed out, garlic-filled apples, baked in the oven on red cabbage.

Ingredients:

Rule for 4 servings: 400 g of red cabbage 300 g 50 g of lard 40 g semolina sugar 4 pcs large hard apples 6 pcs cloves 3-4 pcs of cloves 2 pcs onions 2 pcs thyme seedlings 2 pcs whole cinnamon 2 dl apple juice 1 dl black beer crushed cumin pepper salt

Procedure:

  • Carefully cut off the bottom stemmed part from washed, dried apples, hollow out the inside with a small spoon
  • .Cut the garlic side into small cubes, chop one onion finely as well, fry the side with the onion and sprigs of thyme in lard, then fill the hollowed out apples with this stuffing
  • Peel the other onion and cut it into thin rounds, cut the cabbage into noodles, you can also grate it
  • Fill the oven with lard, let the onion turn golden brown, then spread the cabbage on the bottom, sprinkle with sugar, let it caramelize, then pour the beer and juice over the cabbage, add salt, season with cumin

  • At this stage of preparation, place the filled apples on the cabbage, add the spices, cover and bake in an oven heated to 170-180 °C for about 35-40 minutes.

    Serve with white bread as an appetizer or as a main course, for example with hairy dumplings.
