Apple and walnuts on a set Christmas Eve table are a symbol of Christmas for us. However, we also bake them into a tasty cake.
1.
Peel the apples and cut them into small pieces. Drizzle with lemon juice and set aside. Finely chop the walnuts. Sift the flour and mix with baking powder and cinnamon.
2.
Line the cake tin with baking paper and brush the sides with butter. Preheat the oven to 160 °C.
3.
Beat the whole eggs with the icing sugar, gradually add the melted butter, flour mixed with baking powder and cinnamon and the pulp of the vanilla pod.
4.
Add the chopped apples to the beaten mixture and mix lightly by hand. Pour the batter into the tin and place in the preheated oven to bake. Bake for about 45 minutes (160 °C). About 10 minutes before the end of the baking time, remove the cake from the oven, sprinkle with nuts, put it back and finish baking. Enjoy!
