Last Updated on
Ingredients:
-1 can (or jar) of spaghetti sauce
-2 tablespoons of olive oil
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
-1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
-2 cloves of garlic, minced
-1/2 cup of dry white wine
-1 tablespoon of fresh parsley leaves
-2 tablespoons of fresh basil leaves
-1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
-1/2 pound of littleneck clams, scrubbed
-1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
-1/2 pound of cooked spaghetti
Instructions:
1. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat until hot. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the clams, white wine, and spaghetti sauce.
2. Bring to a simmer and cook until the clams have opened, about 10 minutes. Discard any clams that do not open.
3. Add the cooked spaghetti and Parmesan cheese and toss to combine. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
Where you can use it:
This dish can be served as a main course or as an appetizer. It is perfect for a casual dinner party or a weeknight meal.
Tips:
-If you want a more traditional red sauce, simply substitute the spaghetti sauce for a can of crushed tomatoes.
-If you don’t have any dry white wine on hand, you can use chicken broth or water.
-Feel free to add more or less crushed red pepper flakes, depending on your desired level of spice
