Recipe for making smash burgers
Last Updated on
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup diced onion
2 tablespoons butter
4 hamburger buns
4 slices cheese
4 tablespoons ketchup
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
8 slices bacon, cooked
Instructions:
Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, and onion.
Form the mixture into four patties.
Place the patties in the skillet and cook for three minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
During the last minute of cooking, top the burgers with cheese.
Remove the burgers from the skillet and place on a plate.
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Then toast the hamburger buns in the butter until golden brown.
To assemble the burgers, place a burger on each bun. Top with ketchup, mayonnaise, and bacon.
Tips:
> For a juicier burger, add a few drops of water to the ground beef before cooking.
>> If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can use a regular skillet or grill the burgers.
>> Be sure to use plenty of butter when toasting the buns – it makes a big difference!
>> Serve the burgers with your favorite sides. We like potato chips, pickles, and a cold beer
