Crab salad hot dog
As one of the recipes this month was a sushi burger, this recipe similarly combines American buns with seafood. Once again, I’ve come up with a delicious, refreshing and summery snack that is essentially a classic hot dog. However, it doesn’t have any sausage in it, but a much healthier alternative in the form of crab salad.
There are plenty of seafood in the world, and much of it is quite exotic and luxurious, such as black cod. Crab meat, on the other hand, is available to us in many different ways – crab puffs, crab salads, etc. are sold in shops. However, the quality of the latter is not always guaranteed, so to get the right and tasty crabmeat, you should go to the market or visit a specialised fishmonger’s shop. There is no doubt that crabmeat is a totally unique and extremely tasty meat, which does not find its way onto our everyday plates very often.
As always, in the summer I tend to look for lighter and somewhat refreshing flavours, as I don’t tend to eat hot food in the heat. Crab salad is cold, so it’s perfect for summer. All you need is a little chives or green onion and lemon juice. Chives also grow quite well in our domestic conditions. If you’re one of those who have put chives in your garden, you might enjoy the fruits of your own garden in a crab salad! In the absence of chives, green onions also do the job quite well, the end result tasting quite similar.
A hot dog necessarily calls for oblong pastries, and you can find such pastries in almost any major grocery store. However, I often find myself grilling in the summer and have made burgers on the grill. In this case, I have often made use of one of the advantages of grilling, which is, of course, the easy heating of the patties on the grill. There is no doubt that this method of heating only adds authenticity and crispiness to the patties. Heating hot dog buns is certainly not a strict rule – the crab salad itself is so tasty that you tend to forget about it when you eat it.
I served my crab salad hot dogs with potato chips. The crisps are solid and salty enough to neutralise the crab salad in a way, and are a good accompaniment. A crab salad hot dog is the perfect treat for lunch or dinner on a summer’s day, and this recipe feeds four hungry people nicely. Try this unique and new hot dog for yourself!
