Last Updated on
Arab bread served hot.
Ingredients:
Procedure:
1. Grease the baking trays
2. Stir the yeast into the warm water; if using dried yeast, add sugar
3. Set aside for 10 minutes to activate
4. Stir the salt into the flour and, after adding the liquid with the yeast, knead the dough
5. Knead on a floured rolling pin for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic and not sticky
6. Return the dough to the heated bowl, cover with cling film (ungreased) and set aside to rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours
7. Once the dough has risen (doubled in volume), puncture the dough and divide into 8 pieces
8. Roll each piece into an oval shape (25x13cm)
9. Place the pieces on a baking sheet, cover again with foil and let rest for 5-8 minutes
10. Bake for 6-8 minutes at 150-180 °C
11. Leave to cool in a wrapped clean cloth to make the pita soft and pliable.
Recommendation:
Serve the pita warm as a rule!
