Onion Pie

Food from Alsace. A savoury cake made of fried onions, smoked meat, cream and eggs.
Ingredients:
Procedure:
1. Heat oil or lard in a frying pan and fry the cleaned, sliced onion in it
2. Dry the onions until golden, preferably on absorbent paper
3. Put the sliced smoked meat in a pan and fry the fat for a few minutes
4. Mix the eggs with the cream and spices, add the onion and smoked meat to the mixture and pour everything into the cake tin
5. Bake for 10-15 minutes in a preheated oven at 220 °C and another 15 minutes at a lower temperature of 190 °C.
Recommendation:
Serve warm!
