Old Jewish recipe…
1.
In a resealable bag put yeast, egg, hot water, orange zest, sugar, salt, essence and chopped butter.
2.
Close the bag and knead the ingredients in it. Add the flour, seal and knead again until the dough in the bag is compact.
3.
Place the closed bag of dough in a bowl filled with warm water. Leave to rise for 1 hour.
4.
Remove the dough from the bag onto a floured board, roll out into a rectangle of about 40×30 cm. Brush with nutella, sprinkle with lentils. Roll up the longer side. Cut the resulting cylinder lengthwise and intertwine the two pieces with each other. Place in a greased loaf tin. Leave to rest for another hour.
5.
Bake at 170 degrees for 30 minutes. Boil the sugar and water and brush over the babka when removed from the oven.
