Wash the carrots and wipe dry. Remove the ends. Cut them into rings about 0,5 cm thick. Place the sliced carrots in a container and cover them with cold water. Let stand for a few minutes to make the carrots more tender.

Leave the water in the container only up to about 0,5 cm, pour off the remaining water. Cover with a lid. Cook at medium heat until the drain valve starts to squeak. Turn the gas down to low and cook for 15-20 min.

Season with salt, pepper and butter.
