A simple French onion soup recipe that’s great for cold weather. Video below ;).
1.
Cut all your onions into half inch rounds and just put half of them in hot lard.
2.
Stir fry the onions regularly to break them up into rings and fry until golden brown. When the onions are golden brown and starting to burn, add the other half of the onion. This will cause us to have 2 different tasty onion consistencies in the soup.
3.
When the onions have softened, add the granulated sugar and let it dissolve.
4.
Then add the plain flour to the onions and stir well.
5.
When the flour has absorbed most of the lard, add a third of the chicken stock so that the onions don’t burn.
6.
When all the masa has formed in the pot, pour in the rest of the chicken stock, season with salt and pepper and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
7.
While the soup is boiling, prepare the side dish – baguettes. Cut them into diagonal pieces and spread them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
8.
Then pour olive oil over the baguettes, sprinkle them with salt and grated cheese (you can also pour oil over the baguettes at the end) and put them in a preheated oven – grill at 200°C for about 5 minutes.
9.
Serve the soup together with the baguette. Enjoy! See also the video, in it everything is explained with a picture ;).
