Cream-drenched, oven-baked classic buns of amazing taste❗ Buns baked in this exceptional way are soft and light as a feather
1.
Place both flours, caster sugar, vanilla sugar , salt in one bowl and mix it all well with a spoon. Then add 1,5 dl yoghurt,100 g butter and the swollen sourdough starter which we mixed from 2 dl milk + 50 g yeast + 1 tsp sugar. Work in the remaining approx. 3-3,5 dl progressively. In the end, you should end up with a soft, plump dough, softer than semi-soft, which separates quite well from the bowl. Just shape the dough into a loaf without any further kneading. Finally, put the dough in a warmer place for 1 hour to rise.
2.
Turn the risen dough out onto a floured board, form a cylinder and cut it into 16 equal parts. Knead each dough once more into a loaf. Let the loaves rise for 20 minutes, covered with a tea towel.
3.
Make any filling you like. I only filled with jam this time. I have homemade plum jam and also jam from three fruits 🙂 Use a jam that won’t leak during baking. Or stuff to taste 🙂 Next we will need cooking cream and vanilla sugar to pour over the buns.
4.
After 20 minutes, the buns will be a little undercooked… Just pinch each one with your hand, put the filling in the middle and close. Then place the buns side by side on a baking sheet with paper. Finally, leave the buns covered with a towel for 10 minutes to rise.
5.
Pour the liquid cream in which you have mixed the vanilla sugar over the risen buns. To make sure the buns are covered with cream everywhere, we help ourselves with a brush 🙂 For a better idea of the progress, you can also watch my video. Finally, brush the top of the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle well with poppy seeds to taste. Put the buns in the oven, which we have preheated to 180°C for about 35 minutes. You need to keep an eye on it, because every oven bakes differently.
6.
The baked buns are soft and light 🙂 The cream was completely lost during baking, but its taste and softness remained in the buns 😉 They are fantastic, I really recommend to try them! Have a good taste!
