No need to go crazy looking for new recipes to make the menus of your Christmas celebrations a resounding success. This nougat flan tastes like Christmas, will make you look like a pro cook and will not give you the slightest work. You just have to choose if you want to make it family size or in individual molds.
Ingredients
Liquid caramel, 2 or 3 tablespoons Jijona soft nougat, 250 g Whole milk, 500 g Sugar, 50-100 g (see Notes) Eggs, 4 Water, 500 g (for steaming)
How to make a nougat flan
We will make this nougat flan with Thermomix, which is extremely easy, but if you do not have this device, be sure to read the recipe, because the steps are so simple that doing it the traditional way has no mystery either.
Step 1
Put in the bottom of a flan pan of about 22 cm in diameter or distribute it in individual flan dishes. Rotate the flan dishes so that the caramel soaks all the bottom and walls of the flan dishes.
Step 2
Put the nougat in the glass along with the milk and sugar (see Notes). Blend for 15 sec/speed 7 and program 3 min/60°C/ speed 2.
Step 3
Add the eggs and mix for 15 sec/speed 4. Pour the mixture into the flan dish or flan dishes that we have prepared with the liquid caramel, cover them, place them in the Varoma and set aside.
Step 4
Place the water in the mixing bowl, place the Varoma in its position and program 30 min/Varoma/speed 1. When ready, let our nougat flan cool for an hour at room temperature before putting it in the refrigerator. We leave it in the fridge for at least three hours if we are in a hurry, as it is best to leave it overnight to facilitate unmolding.
Step 5
To serve our nougat flan, we unmold it by turning the flan pan over the plate where we are going to serve it and remove the flan pan very carefully. This time we have used some butter cookies with powdered sugar and candied fruit to decorate our flan, but we can serve it with cream, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, sprinkled with crunchy nuts or simply bathed in the caramel itself, as it is also delicious.
Notes
In this recipe the amount of sugar is optional, because the Jijona soft nougat is already very sweet and for many it will be enough, for others with a sweet tooth, it will take some extra spoonful, hence the amount is so flexible.
To make it easier to unmold, we can pass a sharp knife around the flan, stuck to the mold, then put the serving dish upside down on the flan, turn the whole, as when we turn an omelet and, if necessary, we give a few small taps on the base of the flan so that the flan is released and falls on the plate.
